Catullus 16: The First Rap Battle Diss?

When the Roman poet Catullus spit heavy artillery in his “Catullus 16″ poem from 70 B.C. (!), he quite possibly birthed hip-hop in its wake. With lyrical barbs like “just because my lines are tender doesn’t mean that I’ve gone all soft”, his two targets (Aurelius and Furius) were shook, scared to death, scared to look.
