DJ Hero: Very Real and Very Odd

It comes to no surprise that the Guitar Hero franchise has taken on Tony Hawk levels of spinoffery, culminating in their newest offering, DJ Hero.

According to Joystiq, DJ Hero promises to “transform players into DJs who rule the club scene by creating original mixes of popular songs and music from the world’s most exciting artists and DJs.” Hmmmm…sounds might dubious to me. Using turntables as an instrument can be done, if you’re creative and skilled enough, but isn’t this whole “virtual instrument” craze going too far?

You just watch: the next level of virtual band gaming will be “Virtual Hero”, where players run through the entire karaoke catalogue of past Guitar Hero games with no instruments in hand…it’s all virtual! No instruments at all! And it will cost $400 and come in a box the size of a NYC studio apartment.
