10 Chick Flicks That Actually Don’t Suck

I have zero problem with chick flicks. To me, it’s like making a deal–if I can sit through Bridget Jones: The End of Reason without gouging my eyes out, I deserve at least a blowjob. Long live the bartering system.

Still, I’d rather watch a tolerable (and maybe even great) chick flick if possible, and that’s where King Magazine‘s Top Chick Flick List comes into play.

10. The Craft (1996)

Director: Andrew Fleming
Starring: Neve Campbell, Rachel True, Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk.

Four neglected gals exact revenge through evil curses. Sounds like some X-chromosome BS, eh? Witch, please. With sexy voodoo children, magical catfights and more angst than a Mary J. Blige song, it casts a spell hypnotizing enough for freaky Goth chicks and for guys who love bad girls.

9. Love & Basketball (2000)

Director: Gina Prince-Bythewood
Starring: Sanaa Lathan, Omar Epps, Dennis Haysbert, Alfre Woodard

Like an Oxygen movie-of-the-week, friends-cum-lovers balance their relationship and hoop dreams.

The on-court action is surprisingly watchable, but it’s leading lady Sanaa Lathan that will keep your eyes glued to the off-court antics.

8. Mean Girls (2004)

Director: Mark Waters
Starring: Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams

Before her alleged coke-and-vodka-induced stupor, Lindsay Lohan was a real actress. The proof is this raging bitchfest where she plays a high schooler trying to overthrow the popular clique. It’s realistic (home-schooled-kids are freaks), hilarious (see the hallway brawl) and features LiLo’s cardigan-busting cleavage, which started the great boob-job debate.
